I graduated from the University of St Andrews/Scotland in 2013 with a PhD in International Relations (topic: "Syria’s authoritarian upgrading 2000-2010: Bashar al-Asad's promotion of foreign-educated returnees as transnatiol technocrats". I also hold an MA in Political Science, Economics and Geography from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg/Germany. Since 2016 I am working for German Development Institute (DIE) in Bonn/Germany, focusing on labour market policies, digitalization and inclusive economic development, authoritarianism and state-society relations as well as migration in the ME region.
